About Me

My name is Phil and I’m originally from the city of Sunderland in the North East of England, now living in Edinburgh in Scotland. In 2012 I underwent an outdoor epiphany and I haven’t looked back since. I use this blog to document about some of my outdoor adventures.

It all started in May 2012 when my step brother Ian asked if I would like to join him on his ‘life changing’ adventure which he was asked to do by his boss as a reward for his service to the company. After a short sales pitch about following in the footsteps of the lost Cathars, a 250km trek through the French Pyrenees foothills carrying full rucksacks, I agreed to his offer. Though it was the thought of walking through vineyards, sampling the local wine, cheese, beer, culture and Pastis which really convinced me.

I hadn’t expected doing the Cathar Way to have such a permanent impact on my life. I wanted more. Much more. I continued doing more hiking in the Lakes and Scotland in the lead up to the 170km Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) in the summer of 2013, with two of my fellow Pyrenean wanderers in tow.

After seeing Mont Blanc at close hand during the TMB, my ultimate goal is to reach the summit of Mont Blanc using one of the five possible routes. I have also set myself a goal of becoming a Munroist and completing all 282 Scottish Munro’s over the coming years.

But the highlight of my recent outdoor epiphany so far was coming 1st place for the United Kingdom in the competition to take part in Fjällräven Polar 2014, which was without doubt the best experience of my life.

Since the Fjällräven Polar 2014 I have had many adventures, such as:

Hiking Trolltunga in Norway
Completing the Fjällräven Classic
Ascending the Atlas Mountains in Morocco
Walking in Finnish Lapland
Snowshoeing and Ski Touring in Norway

I’m always planning and seeking new challenges…

Welcome to my blog about hiking, trekking, Fjällräven Polar 2014, in fact anything where you require boots and the outdoors.

My name is Phil, and following my outdoor epiphany which started in the summer of 2012 I’m now hooked on everything outdoors. So far my biggest treks have included the 250km Cathar Way, the 170km Tour du Mont Blanc and best of all, winning 1st place to take part in the Fjällräven Polar in April 2014.

I plan to use this blog to write about all my adventures, which will include my personal goal of becoming a Munroist (completing all 282 Scottish Munro mountains), summer treks, weekends in the Lakes and many more.

I like to try and make my blog posts humorous so I hope you enjoy reading and that I can put a smile on people’s faces while showing you some amazing places.
